Are there any open spots on the teams?

After each year is over, every player has to earn a spot on next year’s team. There are no reserved spots for anyone. The roster size for each team depends on the age group and presence of pitcher only players.

Will you have more teams at a certain age level than you did last year?

In order for us to add teams to an age group, we have to have the right coach, or group of coaches, that will represent OUTSIDERS Baseball properly.  In addition, we must have a group of kids that we can coach up and improve as a team.  Note: We also may have less teams at certain age levels for the same reason.

Do you travel a lot?

Generally, we will take our older groups (14-15-16-17 year olds) on several out-of-town trips a year.  We need to do this to play the best competition and to further help with the recruiting process for our student athletes.

For younger ages, the decision to travel is suggested by each team’s coach and business manager and then determined by the parent group. Early in the season and throughout, each team's parent group will discuss possibilities and determine travel plans for the year including special events (ex. Cooperstown, Disney, etc.)

Will my son/daughter play?

OUTSIDERS Baseball strongly believes that if we select your son/daughter, it is now our job to help him/her improve.  Our roster sizes are intentional to allow for players to get adequate practice, playing and rest time.  All players will receive a fair chance to compete for, and share, playing time, and should never be put in a "doghouse" by a coach.  While head coaches will ultimately determine the playing time for their team members, we (OUTSIDERS) expect each team’s full roster to be used regularly.  Please note: there will be times in every season where the lineup gets tighter and playing time may become a reward for positive performance.  Coaches will do their best to prepare players for these unique times when starting roles are earned.

If I do (or my child does) NOT make a OUTSIDERS Baseball team, is it still possible to be a part of Dave Griffin's Baseball School?

Yes.  Absolutely.  We hope players elect to train with Dave Griffin's Baseball regardless of where they play travel ball or high school ball.  Dave Griffin's Baseball offers private and group lessons in Batting, Pitching, Defense and Catching throughout the year, open to any interested ball player.  Please read more about our instructional offerings.
